EFFY'S BOOK REVIEW: SOME GIRLS ARE

Climbing to the top of the social ladder is hard- but falling from it is even harder.

There's a lot of popular books out there and I'm telling you, not all of them are good. Because 1. I honestly think that people (not all of them) only like to read books that are "popular". You know, the books that are currently on the trend and 2. They want to be "in" and 3. They read it because they don't want to be left out from the trend. Trust me. I know because I know.

But on the bright side, I think this one really deserves a review. I tried to write a serious review of this book on my tumblr right after I finished reading it but I swear it didn't really turned out okay because of the rage I felt. So here's a proper (not really) book review.

This is Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers

SPOILERS!! SPOILERS!! SPOILERS!!

With the title, you might have already guessed that this is about girls. Girls with dark sides, actually.

So okay, Regina Ampton used to be a member of Fearsome Fivesome, an all-girl clique; used to be the girlfriend of Josh, the guy who's admired by most girls in school; and ex-bestfriend of Anna, the leader of Fearsome Fivesome.

A typical situation where you tell someone a secret (only out of fright and having no choice) and the next thing you knew, the opposite of the story is all over the place. It's when she tells Kara (because she was so scared and had no one to tell it to), that Anna's boyfriend tried to rape her (which was true). The next day she finds herself standing in front of her spray-painted-with-the-word-WHORE locker. How did that happen? It's when your enemy finds a way to own you.

It's basically about a girl making a fool of herself in thinking that her bestfriend betrayed her by sleeping with her boyfriend because someone said so and the ex-bestfriend who, during her downfall, falls for the guy she used to bully herself. And right when she finds the courage to fight back because of the guy, they find an even better way to own you. And they almost succeeded.

And my brain tells me try not to spoil for those who want to read the book. So

Things I learned from the book:

1. Never ever judge someone based on what others tell you. You might be making a fool of yourself by thinking the same way as the people who you think aren't losers. It's always better to listen to what your mind has to say. Because no one knows what each of us are going through. You might have heard something about that particular person but what if what they're going through is a lot harder than you can imagine? And maybe those who you think aren't losers are the ones who truly are.
2. Never tell someone a secret because you think you have no one to tell it to. Remember: Your bestfriend is your worst enemy. Always best to keep it to yourself because at times, you really truly have no one to trust but yourself.
3. Revenge will do you no good. Because the good will always come forth and "The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive." Things happen. If it makes you sad or happy, you really can't do anything about it. You can't stress yourself over things you can't control.
4. I hate Anna because she was Regina's bestfriend and she believed in Kara's story instead of her own best friend. I think she's dumb.

In real life, hurt people hurt people. But the pain doesn't go away.. you just make room for it.

Love,
Bunny
