EFFY'S BOOK REVIEW: THE SELECTION SERIES

"America if you loved an Eight, I'd want you to marry him. But you should know that love can wear away under the stress of being married. Someone you think you love now, you might start to hate when he couldn't provide for you. And if you couldn't take care of your children, it'd be even worse. Love doesn't always survive under those types of circumstances."

The first time I saw this book around goodreads (of course) I thought, maybe it's boring. Or maybe it's so girly I wouldn't like it. Normally, girly books are not my thing but I was extremely wrong about this one.

It really wasn't what I was expecting because I thought it was going to just be a simple or typical you know, love story. But it wasn't. You know how in books or any fictional shit like when you start to get attached to a character (or something) they just all of a sudden die and it makes you wanna cry? Like I think the writers were like "oh she loves this bitch let's fuck her up and kill the bitch". Horrible. Isn't it?

It was like that. Like when you're expecting something to happen and it is the opposite that actually happens like you thought the author slapped you? Yup.

The last book, The One was released May 7 this year. I waited for that last fucking book for like not more than a month and I got it the same day it was released (yes!!) but I didn't start reading it until two days later. I swear to God I stayed inside my room all day then (not that I don't usually do it) reading it and my mom caught me crying. I don't know if it's just me or...

This is The Selection Series by Kiera Cass

SPOILERS!! SPOILERS!! SPOILERS!!

35 Girls. 1 Crown.

That's what she says. Like is this some kind of a reality show? Sort of, I guess. But no. Not just that.

America Singer, a Five who believes she doesn't have any qualities of being a Princess, competes with 34 other girls who she thinks are better than her. While she was trying to forget about her first heartbreak with her ex-boyfriend Aspen, a six, she became friends with the Prince whom she used to hate but slowly falls in love with him in the later chapters.

The story's about like trying to escape from the past because it fucked you up pretty bad and right when you're about to completely forget it, the past slaps you right in the face and makes you realize that you don't really want to forget it because the past wasn't as bad as you thought it was. I don't know if it makes sense but that's what it was to me. It has so many surprises and twists and turns and it will just make you feel like "what the fucking hell just happened?". Also it will make you cry and damage your emotional shit forever. In other words, it will fuck you up in the ass.

SOME GOOD SHIT ABOUT THE SERIES:

1. I like her Dad. Like you know how dads are so close to their daughters and treat them like Princesses? Yea. Her dad's like that. You would kind of hate her mom but his dad's like the best dad ever (except for my dad of course)
2. I hate the things that Maxon had to do because of his dad. But well.. shit happens.
3. I like Aspen and kind of hate him at the same time. I think he was stupid for breaking up with America in the tree house that night. He shouldn't have. But he's brave and really cares for her so that kinds of okay.
4. America herself. I like her. I think if I wasn't who I am now, I would want to be like her.
5. I liked the surprises also. The way Kiera Cass put it. Like she knows how to fuck her readers up. Almost all of them are so unexpected. *slow claps*

9/10

I heard there will be a TV Series of this series. And I practically imagined Emma Stone as America Singer. I think she's perfect for the role because she's funny and smart and brave and charming and she'd be so hot in red hair.

Anyways here's more. This series has two bonus stories. One from Maxon's point of view and the other one is Aspen's. Both has like 6 chapters each.
